Rich Mather, Ph.D., is President of Canon Medical Research USA, Inc. (CMRU) and leads the company’s strategic direction, currently focusing on enhancing communication pathways with Canon Medical Systems (CMS) in Japan.
He has worked in medical imaging for more than 20 years, receiving his formal training and Ph.D. in Biomedical Physics from UCLA in 1997. Following graduation, he worked as a scientist and engineer for Imatron, Inc. developing applications and engaging in research on the electron beam CT scanner. He spent 2 years working as a program manager in CT for GE Healthcare before joining Canon in 2004. He spent 5 years at TAMS as Senior Manager of Clinical Science focusing on collaborations and technical marketing. He joined TMRU in 2009 to develop the global clinical research and collaborations effort with CMRD.
Rich has published more than 50 peer reviewed papers in high-impact journals such as Radiology, The American Journal of Radiology, Academic Radiology, Physics in Medicine and Biology, The American Journal of Neuroradiology, Circulation Cardiovascular Imaging, and The International Journal of Cardiovascular Imaging.
